Cookeite is a lithium-aluminum phyllosilicate with formula LiAl4(AlSi3O10)(OH)8. First published in 1866 and named for Harvard mineralogist and chemist Josiah Parsons Cooke Jr., it is a soft, pearly mineral often found in late-stage hydrothermal alteration of pegmatites.

Mount Mica Quarry in Paris, Oxford County, Maine, is a historic granite pegmatite locality in the Oxford pegmatite field, long known to collectors for its exceptional tourmaline crystals. It is one of the most famous mineral localities in the United States, with a discovery history dating to 1821 and a reputation that includes the first rose quartz crystals reported from the site. The quarry has also produced notable lepidolite and other pegmatite minerals, and it remains a classic Maine specimen locality prized for both its mineral diversity and historic importance.
