Stilbite is a hydrous calcium sodium aluminosilicate zeolite, part of the silicate mineral class. It was named in 1797 by Jean Claude de la Métherie from Greek words meaning “to glitter” or “shine,” a nod to its pearly luster.
Nashik quarries in Nashik District, Maharashtra are a group of hard rock aggregate quarries in the Nashik Division of India. The locality is associated with quartz and stilbite-group zeolites, and specimens labeled “Nasik quarry” have sometimes been applied broadly to material from multiple quarries in the district. For collectors, the area remains relevant because it has produced mineral specimens from a wider quarrying district rather than a single tightly defined mine site.
