Stilbite with scolecite and apophyllite showcases three hydrated silicate minerals, including the zeolite minerals stilbite and scolecite. This classic association forms in open spaces within volcanic rocks, where delicate crystals develop together in striking contrast.
Pune lies in Pune District on the Deccan Plateau, on the leeward side of the Western Ghats in Maharashtra, India. The surrounding district is known for basalt quarrying, including the Wagholi quarry complex, which comprises approximately 40 small stone quarries. Nearby basalt quarries such as Junnar represent the region’s principal geological setting for collector specimens. The locality’s association with extensive Deccan basalt makes Pune-area material a distinctive regional addition for collectors of Indian volcanic rocks and related minerals.
