Here’s a fun example of the dense Cerrusite crystal on Galena with bright pink blades of Baryte. The fluorescence on this piece is bright!

Cerussite is a lead carbonate mineral, PbCO3, common in the oxidized zone of lead ore deposits. It was first described in 1845 by Wilhelm Karl von Haidinger, and its name comes from the Latin cerussa, meaning “white lead.” It was once an important source of lead for paints and pigments.

The Anti-Atlas Mountains in southern Morocco are the country’s southernmost major mountain range and part of the broader Atlas system. The region is geologically notable for its large and diverse mineral resources and has produced collectible specimens including trachyte, chrysocolla, hematite, bornite, chalcanthite, and quartz. Collectors value the area for classic Moroccan mineral localities such as Bou Azzer and Aghbar, which are associated with well-known ore deposits and specimen material.
