Estimated value between $40-50. Sweetwater Mine, about 12 miles northwest of Ellington in Reynolds County, Missouri, is an active lead-zinc mine in the Viburnum Trend of the Southeast Missouri Lead District. The deposit is within the Bonneterre Formation and is known for multiple ore bodies at depth, producing lead and zinc from a long-running underground operation. Collectors know Sweetwater especially for fine calcite, including excellent doubly terminated crystals, along with other Viburnum Trend sulfide specimens from the district. The mine remains an important source locality for classic Missouri lead-zinc specimens today.
