A rough Smoky Quartz with brilliant golden Rutile striking in multiple directions, including a “Star” on the side with Rutile coming from Hematite.
Rutile in Quartz is quartz, SiO2, with needlelike inclusions of rutile, TiO2. Rutile was first described in 1803 by Abraham Gottlob Werner, and its name comes from the Latin rutilus, meaning reddish. The rutile in quartz gives the stone its striking golden, threadlike look.
