Mozambique is a major mineral-producing country on the southeast coast of Africa, known for significant deposits of titanium, zirconium, rare earth elements, graphite, gold, tantalum, and ilmenite. Its mineral sands deposits, including Moma, Moebase, Angoche Congolone, Corridor Sands, Quelimane, and Congolone, are especially notable for heavy-mineral concentrations that have made the country an important source of ilmenite, zircon, and tantalum for collectors and industry alike. Mozambique also hosts granite pegmatite tantalum localities such as the Marropino mine in Zambezia Province, a classic source for Nb-Ta specimens.
