Endlichite is a rare lead-vanadate mineral in the apatite group, with composition Pb5(VO4)3Cl. First described in 1892 by George A. Koenig, it honors German mineralogist Karl August Endlich.

Mapimí, in Mapimí Municipality, Durango, Mexico, is renowned for the Ojuela Mine, a classic locality for oxidized zinc- and arsenic-bearing mineral specimens. The mine has produced world-class adamite, typically as lemon-yellow wheel and ball aggregates on reddish-brown limonite, along with hemimorphite and other secondary minerals. It is also the type locality for mapimite, a rare hydrated zinc-iron arsenate occurring as rectangular tabular crystals. These distinctive associations and exceptional historical production make Mapimí a premier locality for collectors of Mexican mineral specimens.
