Fluorite with siderite on quartz combines calcium fluoride, iron carbonate, and silicon dioxide in one striking mineral assemblage. Fluorite is a halide mineral, siderite is an iron carbonate, and quartz is a silicon dioxide mineral. Fluorite’s name derives from the Latin fluere, meaning “to flow,” reflecting its historical use as a flux.
Fujian, a province on China’s southeastern coast, is represented in mineral collecting by diverse localities and a significant tungsten-mining tradition. The province includes the Xingluokeng tungsten deposit group, recognized among China’s major tungsten deposits, as well as mineral localities around Sanming and Xiamen. Fujian specimens offer collectors regional material linked to important granitic and hydrothermal ore-forming environments, with continued interest in documented locality provenance.
