Heulandite is a calcium and sodium hydrated aluminosilicate mineral in the zeolite group, first described in 1822 by Henry James Brooke who named it after the German mineral collector Johann Heinrich Heuland. This rare mineral is notable for its coffin-shaped tabular crystals and its ability to undergo reversible dehydration due to its open channel-like crystal structure.
Nashik District, the third-largest district in Maharashtra, is a renowned mining locality in the Nashik Division known for its extensive system of quarries around Nasik town that produce 43 valid minerals. The area is geologically notable for rich cavities and cavities-rich quarries like Mahodari Quarry, which has yielded significant specimens of hematite and other minerals. Collectors value Nashik for its diverse mineralogy, including unique entries like gyrolite from nearby Parner and powellite from Pandulena Hills, making it a key destination for acquiring rare Indian mineral specimens today.
