Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper silicate mineral, Cu2-xAlx(H2-xSi2O5)(OH)4·nH2O, known for its blue to green colors. The name was used by Theophrastus in 315 B.C. and comes from Greek words meaning “gold” and “glue,” referring to a material used to solder gold.

Tentadora Mine is part of the Julcani mining district in Angaraes Province, Huancavelica, Peru, a late Miocene dacitic to rhyolitic dome complex made up of multiple mineralized centers. The district was first renowned for gold ores from the Tentadora area and later became known for silver, lead, copper, zinc, and minor bismuth and tungsten minerals. For collectors, it is especially noted for specimens of sulfides and sulfosalts such as galena, orpiment, realgar, enargite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, tetrahedrite-tennantite, and wolframite, with additional finds including quartz and chrysocolla.
