Turgite is an iridescent iron oxide name used for material now understood as a mixture or variety of hematite and goethite. It was first described by Hermann in 1844 to 1845 from the Turjinskii Mine in Russia, and its name comes from that locality.

This piece was obtained from a private collection so the locality is unknown. The original owner believes it was from Graves Mountain but was not 100% sure.
