These two attractive amethyst crystals, perched on matrix, have interesting phantoms and wispy coloring.
Lake Balkhash in Kazakhstan is a major mineral locality on the northern shore of one of Central Asia’s largest lakes, in the Karaganda Region. The nearby city of Balkhash was founded in 1937 around copper mining and smelting, and the area remains closely tied to copper production today. For collectors, the locality is best known for copper-related mineralization and specimens.
