Chabasite on analcime is a zeolite mineral specimen, with chabazite noted as Ca,K,Na hydrated aluminosilicate and analcime as NaAlSi2O6·H2O. The name chabazite was first used by René-Just Haüy in 1796, from an older Greek term for a small stone, while analcime was named in 1797 by Déodat de Dolomieu from the Greek word for weak or feeble, in reference to its low electricity on heating.
Washington is the northwesternmost state in the continental United States, with a wide range of mineral localities spread across its mountain belts, districts, and mining counties. It is known to collectors for historic mining regions such as the Granite Falls and Newport districts, as well as localities that have produced specimens and commodities including magnesite and tungsten. The state’s long mining history and varied geology continue to make it an important source area for field collecting and provenance-focused mineral specimens.
