Estimated value $50-100. Hyalite opal is a colorless variety of opal, a hydrous silica with formula SiO2·nH2O. It glows from Uranium in the crystal lattice. It was named by A.G. Werner in 1794 from the Greek for “glass,” reflecting its glassy appearance.
