This piece has a unique ‘peachy’ matrix the clear Calcite shines on. Calcite is a common carbonate mineral with the formula CaCO3. It was named by Pliny the Elder in 79 from the Latin calx, meaning lime. It is the main mineral in limestone and dolomite, and it is widely used in cement and construction.
Tuban is a populated place in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur, in the Davao Region of Mindanao, Philippines, located at 6.82278° N, 125.38694° E in a tropical rainforest climate. The locality sits within the Davao del Sur provincial area, a region that collectors know in part for the Davao gold placer district, which has produced gold and PGE-bearing beach placer material. For specimen collectors, Tuban is relevant mainly as a geographic reference point within a mineral-rich part of southern Mindanao rather than as a well-documented standalone mineral locality.
