A unique combination of growth: Tessin Habit AND Tabular Crystal on the same specimen, a water clear Quartz with a tough of rich green Chlorite!
Quartz is silicon dioxide, SiO2, and Tessin habit describes tapered crystals with steep rhombohedral faces. Quartz was first described by Georgius Agricola in 1546, and its name comes from the German word for hard or from a Slavic term for hard.
Ganesh Himal in Dhading District, Bagmati Pradesh, is a Himalayan mountain range in north-central Nepal, about 70 km north-northwest of Kathmandu, with peaks rising well above 6,000 m and Yangra (Ganesh I) as the highest at 7,422 m. The Dhading district area is mineralogically known for alpine quartz and ruby, and the Ganesh Himal locality is documented for specimens including actinolite associated with quartz and chlorite group minerals. For collectors, it is a notable high-altitude Nepalese source area tied to ruby-bearing terrain in the Ganesh Himal massif and to alpine mineral material from a rugged Himalayan setting.
