It was first described in 1823 by Wilhelm Haidinger, and its name comes from Libethen, the former name of Ľubietová in Slovakia.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eM’sesa Mine is a copper locality in Kambove Territory, Haut-Katanga, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, within the Katanga Copper Crescent. It is known for copper mineralization and has produced notable specimens of cuprite and libethenite, with libethenite reported as large crystal plates up to 8 mm.
