Multiple Pyrite crystals suspended in the center of this unique ‘window cut’ Quartz gemstone. You’ll notice Iron coating some of the Pyrite crystals. The pavilion, or bottom, of this gemstone has a checkerboard cut.
Pyrite is iron sulfide, FeS2, a common sulfide mineral often found in quartz veins. First described by ancient authors, its name comes from the Greek word for fire, a nod to the sparks it can strike. It is famously called Fool’s Gold for its gold-like sheen.
