Celadonite is a blue-green mica mineral with the formula K(MgFe³⁺)(Si₄O₁₀)(OH)₂, belonging to the dioctahedral mica group. It was first described in 1832 by French mineralologist Jean-Baptiste L. A. Delesse from the island of Celedon, with its name derived from the Greek word for “pale green.” This mineral is commonly found in altered volcanic rocks like basalt and is notable for its waxy luster and soft hardness of 2.
