Turgite is not an approved mineral but a hydrated iron(III) oxide mixture of hematite and goethite, originally described in 1844 by Hermann from Russia’s Turjinskii Mine. It is widely recognized by collectors for its striking iridescent coatings on hematite or goethite specimens.
