Tsumeb, located in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia, is the site of the world-famous Tsumeb Mine (also known as the Ongopolo Mine), a historic Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag-Ge-Cd deposit renowned for producing an extraordinary wealth of rare and unusual minerals. Discovered in 1893 and operated until 1996, the mine remains a legendary locality in mineralogy, celebrated for its unique geochemical environment and the diversity of its mineral output. Collectors continue to seek Tsumeb specimens for their rarity, beauty, and scientific significance as benchmarks in the study of secondary copper and lead minerals.
