Chrysocolla is a secondary copper silicate mineral with the formula Cu2-xAlx(H2-xSi2O5)(OH)4·nH2O, first named by Theophrastus in 315 B.C. from the Greek words for "gold" and "glue" because it was used to solder gold. Although pure chrysocolla is unstable and prone to fading, the gem variety mixed with chalcedony is stable and prized for its vivid blue color in jewelry.

Deep teal botryoidal Chrysocolla after Malachite, mined in 2022.
